Spouse Package

We offer an entertaining and cultural interesting programme for the spouses / family members of an IAUP member / delegate joining the trip to Vienna.

The spouse package includes:

  • The Cultural Spouse Programme (see detailed description below)
    • Thursday 6th July: „Capital of Viennese Musicians and Coffee Tradition“ – Sightseeing tour, lunch, tickets, guided tour
    • Friday 7th July: „Imperial Vienna“ – Sightseeing tour, lunch, tickets, guided tour
  • The Evening Programme of the conference (Attention: depending on availability; see detailed description under Evening Programme)
    • Wednesday 5th July: Opening Cocktail Party in the city hall
    • Thursday 6th July: Vienna’s Night – Concert at the St. Stephen’s Cathedral
    • Friday 7th July: Gala Dinner in the Festsaal of the Hofburg Palace

€ 385.00 per person per package
The price will remain the same irrespective of the number of programme items (cultural-, evening programmes) your spouse chooses.

Capital of Viennese Musicians and Coffee Tradition

Itinerary

Pick-up at the Conference Hotel. You start your city walk from the conference centre and will follow the traces of all the famous Viennese composers and musicians, who lived and worked over centuries in Vienna. The highlight of the morning will be a visit of the State Opera, where you will experience the special atmosphere of this opera house and its history. Transfer to the restaurant and lunch time.
After lunch you will meet again your local guide, who will talk about the very long Viennese coffee house tradition going back to the turn of the 19th to 20th century, when the Cafes where the meeting place of the writers, artists and bohemians. Immerse into the world of Viennese Cafes with their international reputation to find the largest diversity of coffee and see the most famous coffee houses in town. Be surprised by the many different ways of how to drink a cup of coffee in Vienna. In the end of your walk you will enjoy your own coffee with a piece of cake at the most traditional coffee house: The „K. & K. Hofzuckerbäckerei Demel“

Imperial Vienna

Itinerary

Pick-up at the Conference Hotel. Start your walk with an extensive exploration of the Hofburg complex. The winter residence of the Habsburg Family was built over many centuries, which is recognizable within the many different architectural styles of the building. It was the centre of the Habsburg Empire for over 600 years. The Imperial Palace also houses the Spanish Riding School – home of the white Lipizzaner horses. This world famous riding school has a very long tradition leading back to the 16th century. You will watch a show in the beautiful winter hall, designed by the well-known Baroque time architect, Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. During this show you will see mares with their foals, young horses and a presentation of historical carriages. After being full of impressions of these gorgeous horses you will enjoy lunch.
After your meal you will meet again your local guide. To learn all about the extraordinary personality of Sisi, you will visit the Sisi-Museum, continue to the Imperial Apartments to see where and how the Imperial Family lived and in the end you will be guided through the Silver Chamber to find out everything about the court traditions concerning meals and festivities.
