An Impression of Vienna

Itinerary

Welcome to Vienna. Meet your local guide and start a tour by bus along the famous Ringstrasse. Have a look at the beautiful buildings of “Historism” style like the State Opera, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Parliament and many more. Have a stop at the classy Hundertwasserhaus and go on to the Belvedere Castle from where you will enjoy an the extraordinary view of the old city. Return to the city centre and experience Viennese kitchen for lunch.
After the meal start your city walk through the historical city centre and learn about the 2000 years history of Vienna. You will see many different architectural styles, find silent courts and busy streets full of interesting stories about Vienna. The highlight of this walk will be a guided tour in and around St. Stephen’s cathedral, where the tour will end.

Option II: Salzkammergut and Sound of Music

Sunday 9th July – Monday 10th July 2017

Itinerary

Day 1: Enjoy the busride to the Salzkammergut „a UNESCO World Heritage Site“. Have your first stop in Bad Ischl and enjoy a guided city tour and guided tour through the Kaiserpark and Kaiser Villa. Continue the busride to St. Wolfgang and have lunch. Afterwards have a lovely boat trip on the Wolfgangsee (lake) from St. Wolfgang to Fürberg. The passenger boat company on Wolfgangsee (lake) has been in operation since the times of the last great Emperor. The paddle steamer „Kaiser Franz Josef I“ was first launched in 1873 and was hailed at the time as a “technical achievement”. Busride to the hotel in Salzburg and check-in. Dinner on demand.

Day 2: Breakfast in the hotel. Beginn the day with an original Sound of Music Tour (start 09:15 am, duration 4 hours) to the movie view points –  Mirabell Castle, Leopoldskron Castle, Hellbrunn Castle and Nonnberg Monastery. Ride by Sound of Music-Bus into the Salzkammergut, St. Gilgen (short photo-stop) and Mondsee (around 50 minutes free time). Return to Salzburg. Free time and individual return from Salzburg.

Itinerary

Meet your local guide and take the subway and bus to the Technical Museum in Vienna. This very special museum shows the history of human achievements in the wide range of technology. You will enjoy a highlight tour through the museum before returning to the city centre.

Price per person

The visit to the technical museum is included in the conference fee for the Young Scientists.
